Waiting for the sun to shine.

 

Today the dawn broke bleak and grey

The rain poured down persistently.

It seems the rain is here to stay

Though somewhat unexpectedly.

This is the merry month of May.

The blossoms we expect to see.

There’s little sign there on their way

Things are not as they ought to be.

But there is nothing we can do

Except accept that spring is late

Although we know it’s overdue.

When it arrives we’ll celebrate.

A delayed spring is nothing new.

Spring very rarely comes on cue.
