Failed Attempt

Failed Attempt

Failed attempt.

I saw a lady passing by

And I know why she caught my eye.

It was the way she chose to dress.

She’d made an effort to impress.

She dressed as though she was sixteen

Though I am certain that she’s seen.

More birthdays than she cares to say.

Her wrinkles give the game away.

Although she is entitled to

Dress anyway she chooses to.

She does not want to see the truth.

She can’t regain her long lost youth

By dressing mutton up as lamb.

Apparently she thinks she can.
