DisillusionedA Poem by poeticpierspoemDisillusioned. I have grown sick of false pretence. The lies which masquerade as truth. Advertisements which cause offence Which make false claims they cannot prove.. False claims which merit stern reproof What can they say in self defence? But platitudes which do not soothe I have grown sick of false pretence. Their lies may make commercial sense. They offer no convincing proof. The pay no heed to consequence The lies which masquerade as truth. Happily ignoring truth The advertisers lack the sense. To recognise their lies won’t soothe. Advertisements which cause offence. Their lies insult our common sense But they continue to pursue A campaign based on false pretence. They make false claims they cannot prove. Why should they bother with the truth When lies produce more recompense Though they profess to offer proof Their protestations make no sense. I have grown sick.
