No Pleasure Garden.

Reverse Petrarchan sonnet

Tetrameter variant.

My garden’s not designed to please.

It is more like to horrify.

The plants I grow are poisonous.

I use them to combat disease.

Though you may choose to think I lie.

You can be sure they’re dangerous.

Uninvited visitors die

Their bodies serve to fertilise.

The poison plants that I so prize.

In my garden; my rules apply.

You‘ll stay away if you are wise.

But people rarely heed advice.

Fools are not in short supply.
