I love you still: I always will.A Poem by poeticpiersrhyming quatrains iambic tetrameter Based on truth admixed with a little poetic licence. A love affair that was not meant to beI love you still I always will. The wind that blows across the bay. Carries the salt tang of the sea. Though subtly changing every day It succeeds in reminding me. Of other scenes far, far away. A different bay; a different sea Of lovers games we used to play When you shared everything with me. We wanted to but could not stay We were parted forcibly. Your family took you away. They did not quite approve of me. I wonder where you are today and if you still remember me I think of you first thing each day. Still treasuring the memory. Of those carefree golden days. When you and I played happily. Before we went our separate ways Albeit most reluctantly. The winds that blow across the bay Carry the salt tang of the sea. Though subtly changing every day. They never cease reminding me. Of a small secluded bay. Whose beach washed by a warmer sea. Was where we used to meet each day. To romp and play so happily. The bay I see is dark and gray. An inlet of the cold When your family took you away. You took my heart permanently. Saturday, 18 August 2012 © 2012 poeticpiers |
