Going Gently

Going Gently

Those that are deaf cannot hear the slightest hiss
The birds singing in the day, the chirping of crickets at night.
But the one I know is still able to find bliss.

Blind men cannot visualize whom they kiss.
And they see beauty without sight.
Though it cannot be denied, that for many, love still exists.

Paraplegics have broken spines they dearly miss
It is impossible to stand, to walk. It is hard to fight
Yet for many, in their hearts a fire still exists

Alzheimer patients struggle to reminisce
They can’t remember their past a horrible plight
But the one I met was still able to find bliss

And you, in your perfect health, see beauty and ask: what is this?
You hear my voice, and stare at me with eyes as lifeless as an abyss
Pain, Pain, but you do not fight
And i ask, i plead, i beg, for you to just come back into the light.
I love you, do not leave the world like this.
