Lullaby

Lullaby

A Poem by Kollin Lore

You awoke me one evening,

weary and weeping.

I asked you what’s wrong,

you had trouble sleeping.

I got up, held your hand,

and brought you to your bed.

Tucked you in tight,

and caressed your throbbing forehead.

You continued to sob,

Oh my child, why do you cry?

I dried your teary eyes,

and sang you a lullaby.

In your calm state,

I kissed you lightly on the nose.

And watched…

Watched, as your eyes slowly close
