If only 2012

We wait in hope or in despair.

It matters not we must still wait.

Although it’s sometimes hard to bear.

We can do nought to change our fate.

The love we feel but can’t declare

 Because she can’t reciprocate.

Fate can be unkind and unfair.

It does no good to contemplate.

That if you had been born elsewhere.

A different town, a different state.

Perhaps she would be free to care.

If only is the saddest phrase.

That anybody ever says.

Yes, sometimes we must just accept our fate when there is nothing we can do to change things, and we can't always change things.

Excellently written and enjoyable read. You do have creative skill in writing poetry, that can't be denied.
