We can do nought to change our fate. The love we feel but can’t declare Because she can’t reciprocate. Fate can be unkind and unfair. It does no good to contemplate. That if you had been born elsewhere. A different town, a different state. Perhaps she would be free to care. If only is the saddest phrase. That anybody ever says.
