Final Farewell.

Final Farewell.

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

rhyming quatrains

"

Final farewell.

He is the last one of his kind.

A silhouette against the sky

Though he is old and nearly blind.

He stands erect with head held high.

When dragons ruled there were no wars

Men lived in peace with fellow men

They knew the dragons would enforce

the laws. Which could not be broken.

Though dragons have a long life span.

They died off slowly one by one.

Too few were left to control man.

He knows he too will soon be gone...

When he is gone chaos will reign.

No dragon left to take his place

There will be nothing to restrain.

The warlike urges of our race.

The Dragon dies with dignity.

but weeps salt tears for humanity.

He goes to meet his destiny.

Reward for his integrity.

What of the world he leaves behind?

Mankind will have to find a way.

To live in peace with their own kind.

Exactly how I cannot say.

I get the feeling this story has a similarity to its creator. You are one of a kind!
