Just another Statistic

Just another Statistic

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

poem in iambic terameter

"

Just another statistic.

Everybody needs somebody

Or they shrivel up and die

Unloved by anybody.
I wonder why so many try

Some pensioners survive.

Although we can’t say that they live

The truth is that they exist

And very often are not missed

Because nobody seems to care

If they’re alive or if they’re dead

Though it can happen anywhere

Society fails to recognise.

The needs of those who live alone..

Except perhaps statistically

Although their numbers are not known.
they still die individually.

Liked this one a lot, particularly the last few lines.

There is a great deal of a difference between simply existing and truly living.
It's like Jon Foreman said, "A warm body don't mean I'm alive. I wanna thrive, not just survive."

"Old age" it will come too soon for most and go just as quickly.
