Perhaps.

Perhaps.

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

Just as it came

"

Perhaps.

Did Xanadu where Kublai Khan

His stately pleasure dome decreed

Ever exist though no one can say

Either way there’s no real need.

 An opium dream a fantasy.

Alternative reality.

It matters little if at all

These magic verses would enthral

The minds of men for years to come

And they received a warm welcome

From lovers of fine poetry

And addicts of sheer fantasy.

His work deserved world wide acclaim

Made Coleridge a household name.

Per haps some writer of today

Will rise to fame in the same way

If they produce a fantasyThat is as good as S.T.C..

Perhaps you think his tale was true

I am quite sure some people do.

That Alph the sacred river ran

Through caverns measureless to man.

Deep below the barren land.

Somewhere quite close to Samarkand.

Although it seems improbable.

Nothing is impossible to a good poet’s fertile mind.

It could be that you leave behind

A lasting literary legacy

To rival that of S.T.C.
