A repost of a poem written to celbrate five years of marriage

Five years can be a lifetime of happiness.

 

Just five short years since we were wed

Five years of quiet happiness

Together we have know instead

Of the soul sapping loneliness.

 

I used to know living alone

No one to share my life with me

There was no way I could have known.

What fate was planning busily.

 

Fate granted us a second chance.

And so we found to our surprise

We weren’t too old to find romance.

Though we had thought otherwise.

 

Love at first sight; ridiculous

We were too old for such nonsense

But five years later look at us.

Togetherness makes much more sense.

 

Although we’d learned to cope alone

 and thought that love had passed us by.

We found what we had never known.

Someone on whom we could rely.

 

I only know my dreams came true.

Although quite unexpectedly

The first time I set eyes on you.

I knew that we were going to be.

 

 

A great deal more than just good friends.

I dared ask you to marry me

When you agreed to in the end

That was the start of a new life

 

Every day I find some reason why

I love you in the way I do

I do not even have to try

To tell you how much I love you.

 

I know you know but like to hear

me tell you I worship you.

I tell you once again my dear

My love for you is deep and true
