Guilty Conscience? for friend Tate

Guilty Conscience? for friend Tate

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

tetrameter sonnet

"

Guilty conscience.

I know not what I’m haunted by

I feel its presence constantly.

Like some compulsive melody.

 which is repeated endlessly

Though I pretend I do not care

I am aware it’s always there.

I do not know if it is real.

I only know it makes me feel.

As if someone is watching me

Intruding on my privacy.

Perhaps it’s my subconscious mind.

 Which  is determined to remind

me of sins I try to forget

The things I’ve done I now regret.

I really like the way you tie your lines together. It creates an ending to the entire work. Wonderful movement and great images.

It peeks over our shoulders and whispers in our ears, but is it right? Wonderful piece.

Love this piece, The feeling is all too familiar sometimes.

And it's so damnably hard to ignore.
Perfect as usual.

The form of this poem works well and I enjoy the exploration of the subconscious as an entity apart from the self. As a rule of thumb, I do not enjoy rhyme. This poem uses it well, in a way that does not subtract from the value or maturity of the piece. So, in short, good work. Look forward to seeing more of your work.
