![]() After Evensong. for friend Tate.A Poem by Poeticpiers![]() narrative Verse![]() After Evensong. The final echoes die away. The ancient church in silence lay. There was no sound that could be heard. But suddenly my vision blurred. I know not what came over me But I was privileged to see. The old church as it used to be in technicolour vividly. The stonework new and gleaming white reflecting back the candlelight From burning candles everywhere. So bright I found it hard to bear. Each choir stall was occupied. A sight which filled my heart with pride. The priest before the altar stood and by some quirk I understood. The classic Latin of the mass Although I flunked my Latin class. The splendour of the spectacle. To me became a miracle. It seems I had gone back in time and seen a vision so sublime. I hesitate to share with you you won’t believe it’s true. And yet it seemed so real to me I can’t erase the memory. I still remember vividly the vision that was granted me. I don’t pretend I can explain A vision I won’t see again. One time is quite sufficient to witness a long past event The doctors say that I passed out That they are wrong I have no doubt. They have the sheer audacity to question my veracity.. I do not think the doctors know for certain what caused me to go Back through time where I could see a fragment of past history. Their tight closed minds will not allow. them to accept that then and now. Had somehow blended into one magnificent perception. They are entitled to their view They can’t accept it could be true. Their training leads them to suppose. I dreamt whilst I was comatose. These days I rarely tell my tale. So few believe that is true Why waste my breath to no avail Now that I’ve told my tale to you. Do you believe it could be true Don’t say yes to humour me I much prefer straight honesty. Tuesday, 04 January 2011 http:// blog.myspace.com/poeticpiers © 2011 PoeticpiersReviews
