Tolerance

Tolerance

Tolerance.

If you ask me politely

Invariably I will comply

But if you try to compel me

then your demand I will deny.

As I have every right to do

You have your views and I have mine

and they are most unlikely to be

  close enough so they combine.

Into a view we both agree

I’m tolerant and you are not

You see my views as heresy.

Which does nor really help a lot.

Some see your views as bigotry

and who am I to disagree.

Woven rhyme, meter and message that has been carefully crafted by a true poet. I enjoyed this poem and the intricacies involved that look so natural when well done.

A profound writing on how two people see things on a different spectrum perhaps. This had great rhythm, rhyme and flow.. and the message one that both ends of such a spectrum may not be combined. Bigotry is something that does exist both openly and behind closed doors all over the place.. I see it come back to me in the mouths of children.. whom I then have to try to teach to embrace such differences in others..as well as tolerance for others for having such beliefs.

Racism is a continuous battle that rages on.. it's in schoolyards.. malls.. workplaces.. etc. I would love to see the diversity in which we spout BECOME real and not just a label for a mixed community.. at the same time it is hard to change some people's minds.. as they have those freedoms to having their own beliefs. It can be hard to listen to others who say such cruel things about other races.. and to hear it play on through the mouths of innocent youth.. great job.

Quite compelling. Perfect rhyme and I agree with this poems message. We should all try tolerance but so few do.
