Who knows Story poem for M lady Helena

A Poem by Poeticpiers

narrative verse

"

Who knows?

Her red/gold hair was flowing free.
Revealing more than it concealed
And yet some how her modesty
Enraptured me; my fate was sealed.

I did not know if she was real
A wood nymph or a fantasy.
Which only heightened her appeal.
Disheartened by reality.

I’d sworn I’d never love again.
Disillusioned and betrayed
I did not dare to face the pain
engendered by a human maid.

But who was she? This woodland sprite.
Clad only in her red/gold hair.
Dare I approach had I the right.
She held me with her green eyed stare.

I know she knew that I was there
and that she cast a spell on me.
I was held fast as in a snare

Paralysed and hypnotised
by the sheer beauty of her dance.
Eventually I realised.
That she could be my new romance.

But was she real I had to know.
 and not some fevered fantasy
I doffed my cap and I bowed low.
The vision slowly smiled at me.

When I drew close she disappeared.
Therefore she was a fantasy
Then just as quickly re appeared
and quietly she spoke to me.

Although once you been betrayed
It’s very hard to trust again
You can’t judge all because one maid
has cheated you and caused you pain.

No man should have to live alone.
You must accept my words are true.
You were naïve and should have known
That she was not the girl for you.

Again she faded from my view.
I understood that I had been
 granted a rare interview.
Titania the fairy queen

Decided that I must be told.
To forget my woes and try again.
And that my future would unfold
to show me love without the pain.

It might have been a fantasy.
But I remember vividly
 her beauty and her majesty
and the advice she gave to me.

Completely changed my attitude
I knew at once her words were true.
Which I recall with gratitude
each time I wake up next to you.

Don't be flirting with Titania. Oberon might come after you. ;)

Lovely verse though. A lesson well learned. Have you let that one you wake up with read it yet? ;)
