Sonnet Cycle
Life’s journey
1st

Now squalls the baby angrily
At being thrust forth from the womb.
Where he nestled contentedly
within the redly tinted gloom.
What is this world of light and sound?
why must I leave my paradise?
Where peace and comfort ere to be found
my well protected fortalice.
I as not asked but rudely sent
into this world I do not know.
Without my knowledge or consent
and for what purpose I don’t know.

But sweet revenge I surely take
For none shall sleep whilst I’m awake.

2cd

For none shall sleep whilst I’m awake.
Here I’m in charge and I rule all
and none can ignore my call.
My hunger or my thirst to slake
they will obey make no mistake
They must take heed of my command
how quickly now they understand
when I hunger and wish to nurse

Sometimes I feel alone and strange
I merely cry to let them know
and someone comes to comfort me
Their routines they have had to change
because of me I want it so.
This is how life’s meant to be.

3rd

This is how life’s meant to be
my wants and needs must be fulfilled.
my yoke on them rests easily
they quickly learn and grow more skilled
As daily I enjoy my bath
and learn my legs and arms to use.
If I but smile then they will laugh
they are so easy to amuse.
But sometimes when I go to sleep
when I awake there’s no one there
Then loudly do I wail and weep
They’re not supposed to disappear.

I am not pleased and I protest,
Why do they think that they know best?

Who Me?

Men are obsessed by gadgetry.
They will buy any novelty
which they are convinced will easily
 relieve the stale monotony
of every day reality.

Men are at heart still little boys
who have to have the latest toys.
When he gets bored he then destroys.
 Another of his favourite ploys.

He then looks round for something new
 something different he can do.
If you have one he wants one too.

A trait peculiar to men?
If you think so then think again.

You know that women do it too.
