Life goes on.

Life goes on.

Life goes on.

A lightning blasted tree still stands.
It bears no hint of greenery
but Mother Nature understands.
The tree provides a haven
for lesser creatures in her care.
A place to nest a place to rest
small creatures living everywhere.
Wherever they find suits them best.
The tree though dead still sustains life
as its substance rots away.
A sanctuary free from strife
 the tree providing still today.
Although it’s dead the blasted tree
 still serves a purpose faithfully.

I ejoyed the message of what's old and may apear dead is actually alive and well. The poem flows very good and I think that it was well done and thought out. Thank you for sharing.

Very pretty sonnet. You did a great job keeping with the meter, there was just one line "The tree though dead still sustains life" that was off a little. :/ Perhaps if you switched "life and "sustains" it might sound better? I'm also experimenting with sonnets, so it's encouraging to read one that works. Great job! ^_^

I really find this poem to be very enlightening. In a similar concept could be legends and heroes, while they might no longer live their contribution lives on in society (academics, the freedom, their discoveries, spirituality).

Great form and choice of words, great rhythm.

This is a very good piece
