Spring Morning for M lady Kathleen MarieA Poem by Poeticpierspoem
Spring morning
The snows of winter disappear.
Now natures show that spring is near.
The trees unfurl their new green leaves,
small birds investigate the eaves.
In search of somewhere they can nest
Perhaps last years would still be best
The barnyard cockerel takes wing
informs his harem it is spring
.
The oxen are yoked to the plough
The farmer knowsthe time is now
To plough the fields and sow the seed
He has his family to feed.
The nights grow shorter and the days
grow warmer with spring suns rays.
Beneath the soil from buried roots
new life puts forth its fresh green shoots.
Old mother prepares rice and tea
her husband totters out to see
if he agrees its time to plough.
His son will greet him with a bow
and listen to his sires advice.
Although he’s planting wheat not rice.
A show of filial respect
he knows his father will expect.
The old man duly satisfied
will slowly make his way inside.
To drink tea by the fireside.
Old mother keeps his cup supplied
She waits until his eyelids close
he’s slipped into his morning doze
Then only then she breaks her fast,
Old Mother can relax at last.
