The Language Of My Imagination

“Poetry”

Poetry is a mirror.

A mirror that I look into every time

I turn a page or hold a pen,

A mirror that shows me greatness

while cradled in the arms of fear,

It bestows inspiration so I can carve my visions out

of darkness and use doubt as a canvas to paint my

destiny causing my regrets to testify

of birthed dreams...

“Poetry”

Poetry is an ocean that allows metaphors to flow

through continents of creative concepts carrying

similes like ships fashioned by raw emotion...

“Poetry”

Poetry is an empty house waiting to be furnished

with God-crafted thoughts, painted by a voice

crocheted with pain, and lived in by poetic imagery

that seemingly drips from clouds...

“Poetry”

Poetry is a black sky that one can fill with hatred,

pain, loneliness and it will be interpreted as a starry

moonlit night that sings a lullaby to the troubled

mind, lightens the heavy heart that was weighted

with frustration granting rest...

“Poetry”

Poetry is an existence that can be visited with

curiosity, imagination, and the ability to guess.

To paint portraits of undreamt dreams, explain the

unseen all the while underneath a beautiful sunset

that never sets...

“Poetry”

Poetry is the tears or the smile of a pen

on the face of a piece of paper.

Poetry simply is...

The language of my imagination.

Oh I love this, just love this. Needed to read an inspiring piece such as this... Thank you.

So how does a young man such as yourself know about "crochet"... a grandmother perhaps. I crochet just a little and it is the perfect metaphor for this piece... it shows a depth, I don't know... crochet is just yarn, a long, long piece of yarn that creates beautiful blankets and sweaters through a series of intricate knots... lots of counting and measurement go into every piece of work. Usually created by the hands of a loved one.

This is really, really good.

oh my ,you have not left anything for me to say
how i like poetry too and why,
you told everything wondeful about it
nothing left for me,you were great telling
how wonderful to be poetic and dreamy
how if we wanted to talk ,we sing
if we wanted to tell we draw images
its like we do not use words but magic
it will melt everybody heart
it will take everybody breath
it will send me wild
and i will look so beautiful
for i am a poet and i dream...all my life

Love these two stanza the best. This is a fantastic piec it gives an excellent meaning to poetry and how it can be more then just word across a paper.

Marvin your souls fluidity is a delight to have imbibed in my heart and mind. It is like water to those of us that thirst. I understand your feelings because I am moved in an indescribable way as well by the art of poetry/words/lyrics, especially when it is yours. There is a rhythm that is luring and leading that is woven through your words whispered LOUDLY to us...
Poetry is the tears or the smile of a pen
on the face of a piece of paper.
Poetry simply is...
The language of my imagination.
Awesome verbal depiction of how the blood pumps through your veins.

Wow!!!
THat was simply beautiful!!!

I love how you compared poetry to the night sky.

"Poetry is a black sky that one can fill with hatred,

pain, loneliness and it will be interpreted as a starry

moonlit night that sings a lullaby to the troubled

mind" These few words are gold. Keep up the great work!!!

Amazing! I loved everything about this poem,
from the typewriter-like font, to the way you structured the stanzas,
and of course, the theme itself. I love poetry myself! And I loved
all the unique metaphors you came up with to describe how
poetry is to you.......and many others as well.
you opened my eyes.
thanks.

Hey Marvin, again another great piece from the kid. Wow 19 years old! As you continue to experience life I can not imagine the level your writing will take shape of. I know we (readers) are watching greatness form before our very own eyes. Lyrical shared your book promo with me great job!
