Promised

A Poem by Marvin Lewis Jr.
"

My philosophy of love

"

A Cure

Love makes forever seem like its not long enough,

It paints hard times with laughter, rainy days with clear eyes, and alone moments with the thought “I belong”.

It takes those that grasp it somewhere far to a place fear can’t interrupt their song,

sadness can’t impede the assured position from which they view life because it is from the lap of God.

So wide you can only transcend never fall,

so high one is able to look down at stars,

walking with long strides head held high because through the eyes of God they observe themselves.

With the mindset that hung the moon while sitting down and named the stars to estimate their wealth,

Love allows us to wrap our minds around unexplained truths ushering us into avant-garde realms.

Where we hear like those positioned on mountaintops see,

Write with soft melodic strokes of genius like newborns breathe.

Hear God as simple and naturally as children see playgrounds,

taste the baffling complexion of the things He’s created because silence is more powerful than the freedom of speech.

Explaining God is like writing sound,

but He becomes clearer the more we seek to know love.

Brilliant Marvin. You have been truly blessed with a poets inner eye........the one that feels and interprets spiritual events and emotions.......and brings them to life through prose to share with those who cannot see such things.......Well done my friend.

Peace,

Bill :-)

To hell with writing a review. You pet a stray cat too much, and they get to expect it. :) I will say this...In A Sentimental Mood" by the Duke is one of my top three favorites songs. You got great taste, That's Coltrane on sax, although I'm sure you knew that. You don't need me to add to the raves about this piece. All you need is a break, and a strong heart. Rain..

beyond your years which is always evident
in your work. Good stuff here pimp.

Absolutely magnificaent. While I usually lean more towards darker works, I found this piece to be soothing. I only hope that time does not take this beautiful idea of Love away from you as it has me. Wonderfully written. Bravo...

I am speechless...
Explaining God is like writing sound,
but He becomes clearer the more we seek to know love.
...words can not explain what I feel and see when gifted to read your poems.
