The truth in a child's eyesA Poem by sheila lottI wrote this for a daycare centerThe kindest truth comes from a child's eyes. They do not see destruction they do not see lies. They see candy-canes and chewy gumdrops. They see the Easter bunny every time he hops. They see candy-bars wrapped in gold. They believe in the tooth fairy just like they were told. They see cherry sucker for them to keep. They see the sandman ever time they sleep. They see sugar cookies everywhere they look. They believe in Johnny Appleseed, because they read it in a book. They see butterscotch chips with the greatest thrill. They know about Jack and Jill falling down that hill. They see cotton candy all over their sticky hands. Just ask them and they will tell you Santa is the man. They see ice-cream cones piled to the sky. They see Superman every time he flies. They see honey dipped stars and kool-aid covered suns. They see Robin Hood every time he runs. They see these things without any thought. So look into a child's eyes there are lessons to be taught.
