The i am

The i am

A Poem by Lauren

I am queen of the moon and

I am king of the Southern boy,

spitting watermelon seeds five-and-a-half miles

away from my front porch.

I am the Great Bambino and

I am the King of Rock and Roll, thankyouverymuch.

I sing arias in eight octaves

and win World Cups and Series

single-handedly.

I make monsoons out of

tears cried by the men whose hearts

I have broken.

I yield to no one.

In my hand is the power to write

the great American novel.

I am fluent in every language spoken

and in fifty others I have created.

I kissed the Sphinx to life and

out of my own steamy passions

I gave birth to the seven wonders of the world.

I am the nectar on your tongue

the luck in your penny

the travesty of your life.

I am succulence,

I am your love.
