written in blood

written in blood

A Poem by Aiden Christopher Pafford

As I stab the pen deep within my heart to write these words
Do you really feel the depth, the yearning, the anguish
Or do you just sit there and smile with shallow pity.
The reaper lurks in from the distance my life drawing nigh
the conflicting words of repose like the demons cry.
I'm cursed be damned to soliloquy of unrequited torture
casted out like chaff among the wind
calling out but no one else hears me
filled with the ardent anthems justified by morals
I'm writing in my blood pouring freely from my veins
crying tears of hope from the recesses of the soul
will a chariot light the darkness like lightning from of old
or will the reaper feast fondly in delight
to live
to die
both synonymous to themselves
for they both acquire suffering to achieve....
but only one finds relief.
