At What Expense?

At What Expense?

A Poem by John Byrd

Shoe game is crazy.
Hats far too stylish.
Stepping stones with swooshes.
Halos with rich letters and patterns.

The top and the bottom.
The first two things people notice.
The most essential
In my opinion.

Dropping atleast $70 per pair.
$25 per hat.
Is it worth it?
All the underpaid workers
Creating your vanity.

Some young children in poverty
But these Nikes are nice though.
An old elderly woman in terrible conditions
But this Huf hat gets me all the ladies.
They make me happy.
At what expense?

What are you willing to sacrifice?
Whether tou buy it or not they will be there.
There will always be people who buy them.
Why not assist them?
What would you do?

Occasional slang. Just something I was thinking about that relates to my love for shoes and hats.

A question, more people should ask themselves, before they vote with their wallets. What impact, is my fashion choice having on other people, in the developing world. Is my money being passed down the corporate ladder, to help those, in the most need. While balancing your limited monitary resources, against those needs.

Honestly, living on a disability, I have to find the cheapest clothes, which balances my ethnical wants, without draining my bank account. Sadly, this means, the developing world workers, come up, second best.

Thank you, John, for asking this question.
