Letting Go

Letting Go

A Poem by John Byrd

They say if you love something you have to let it go

I’m saying if it comes back it’s meant to be.

You’ll just have to wait and see.

It’s such a scary experience.

Like will she even remember us?

Or will she find someone else who is better.

Somebody with even more cheddar

And bacon and everything else she needs.

No more seeds.

No more growing what we had.

No more getting mad.

No more of the creation of beautiful memories.

No begging for the time.

Please.

Faith is all we have left.

The spot where you would  have slept.

Next to her

Holding her

Taking care of her

Acts of love towards her.

But now all we can do is hope, pray and let it go.

The original quote (though I don’t remember by who) was, “If you love someone, set them free; if they comeback they’re yours.” Not really relevant, but thought you might like to know.

Like will she even remember us? (I recommend italicizing or quoting ‘us’ for emphases)

Or will she find someone else who is better. (?)

This is only the second piece I have read of yours, but you seem to write from the heart, and about unattainable love: someone you lost, some one you miss, someone you wish you had never hurt. These are honest and true emotions when put to paper, and I think your sentiment comes through well.

By this write ,one can tell that you have struggled and conquered a mountain. Congratulations for the conquering isn't really obtaining what you wanted. The real struggle was how you dealt with it and how you learned to be able to let go if needed.

Sounds like you have done that and done it well. That now opens the door for great love to come.
Your writes are very important for all of us. You have a great ability to see with Spiritual eyes and have that golden heart.
You are willing to use this for good and love and it will do just that.
Keep writing John even if you think no one is listening.
Just write.........Follow your heart.........Well Done John Byrd.. Well done!

Wow agin very emotional and kind of strong this piece.
Really powerful piece about the heartbreak of letting someone we love go, and missing them so strongly.
Beautiful but sad, and so romantic.
Brilliant write :)

John, this is a moving piece. I love the repetition of "her" and the passion and how it gets to the point and is emotional. :) Great piece.
