DrownedA Poem by John ByrdAlone. At the bottom of the lake. They all ran away. Being repelled. Everything that didn’t run away is dead. It’s dark and lifeless at the bottom of the river. There doesn’t seem to be any light. A void is present. Sounds are the only thing down there. There are different sound waves. The waves are at the bottom of the lake instead of the top. Nothing makes sense. He tried to swim to the top but does not know how. He had floaties once and saw a glimpse of the top. They popped and he fell down at 500mph. He saw everything he wanted just to fall back down. A tease if anything. He hates teases. Too numb to feel the water surrounding him. © 2014 John Byrd |
