CondemnedA Poem by poeticbreezeThis poem is about a dream I had when I was young, always having an interest in birds I wished I could fly with them, yet my dreams were held back but that didn't stop me.When I was young, I remembered focusing my unaccustomed eyes towards the fresh blue sky, Deep breath, breathe, air into my fresh lungs, waiting for my time to come, I saw the birds delicate and free, I run towards them as they flew from me, I yearned to be that bird, yet a thousand teachers would tell me I was absurd, I cried through the lonely night and in my dreams, I jumped off a cliff and opened my wings, I flew around the mountains dashing through the blossoming trees, Following the lake and drifting with the warm summers breeze, My gracious soul smiled and said to them, who’s flying now my dreams not condemned, A thousand people could give me a thousand pounds, yet I wouldn't take a penny, I would give it all away and then cry out, my dreams will not be condemned by all or any, I am a soul flying free yet soundless and majestic like a silent winter tree, Yes, I will tumble from time to time, be chopped down by the axes of men Yet at least I can say to you, I will not be condemned. Each night I jump off that cliff and fly away, No matter what the darkness does to me during the light day, You can tear out my soul and sell it to my end, Yet nothing can stop me because I cannot be condemned. © 2013 poeticbreezeAuthor's Note
