Raven Goddess of War

Raven Goddess of War

A Poem by Poetic Beauty
"

Morrigan the Cetlic Goddess

"

Glistening inky black  hair

flows with raven feathers

As her gown of red enchants

The unsuspecting eye

Plotting bloody war

Is in her mind’s eye

As she strokes the crow

The sit on her shoulder’s left side

Sword wielding female

Slaughter is her game

Listening to her warnings

When she comes to call

Or you could be dead

On the battle field

So take her words

Before it is

Off with your head

I sing to ye

Tidings of ill will

For on the morrow

You precious blood

Shall spill

With a sparkle so fair

Her voice a chorus

Of ill will and despair

Her raven so close

With onyx feathers

Like roasting coals

Flaps it wings

As anticipation grows

She is a beauty

Of passionate fire

Get too close

And she will burn you

With all consuming desire

I sing to ye

Tidings of desire

For without me

Ye heart shall expire

Cloaked in darkness

Surrounded by crows

Her magical powers

Surge through veins

Leaving men besotted

And a little deranged

Author's Note

Poetic Beauty
Morrigan was one of the greatest "negative"
archetypal Mothergoddesses of the irish celtoi.
She is a goddess of war, death, prophecy and passionate love.
Together with Badb and Macha
she build a triad of three warlike goddesses.

She is part of the Tuatha De Danann (Fae)

would be a stand alone ..just these two stanzas...

Wow, this is a deeply profound write, Poetic...and I learned some history of ancient lore. I Love that.

An Epic poem, and a lovely read(I read it twice).

Nicely done.

Although I'm not familiar with Celtic mythology you have brought this goddess to life in great detail. Fantastic write and an equally enjoyable read!
