Dredged Up Past

need to vent some negative emotions and thoughts

Swimming in emotions

Of shattered glass

Surfing tidal waves

Of jagged nails

 

Splintering teardrops

Of yesterday

Haunt today’s reality

Shadowing the bright sun

 

Onyx disappointment

Simmers within

A melting pot

Of raw nerves

 

The ticking clock

Reversing to

Apartment abandoned

And an abusive afternoon

 

A downward spiral

Emerges from withering

Depth pointing its skeletal

Finger in my direction

 

Moody memories

Dredged from

Murky waters

Call out my name

 

Should have remained

Within comforting walls

Instead of trading it

For the terrifying

Bruises displayed.

once the memories start coming back they begin to really flood our consciousness when all we ever wanted to do was to be rid of them. however it is always inevitable they return especially if we dredge them up ourselves. nice use of imagery and symbolism.

there is pain and emotion is those words..a little hint of the abuse and the healing that is needed..we all have a vent sometimes..not always put so poetically :)
