Childhood Memories and a HankieA Poem by Poetic Beautyfirst poem written about my grandpa since he passed away three years agoI have carried your hankie In my pocket for days now When I reach my hand Inside my coat I can feel its smooth texture Memories flood in my mind Of what seems a different time Of days digging in the dirt With a tablespoon Underneath the swing That you made for me Grandma hanging laundry On the clothesline And the green grass Tickling my little toes Me smiling As you pruned the roses Breezy days spent Out in the schoolyard Our kites flying high With the sun kisses The blue sky And when the adventure Was done for the day You would wash my feet And gently put on my white socks As these special memories Dances across my mind I smile, then sigh Oh grandpa How I wish we had more time © 2012 Poetic BeautyReviews
