Autumn Change

The chilly air fills the empty soul

With hollow thoughts of a time long ago

Dreams blend with reality

As forgotten moments drift

Upon the blackened feathers

Of twilight

 

Soaring to heights out of reach

Beyond the starry sky

To the heavens

As silence courses

Deflating the ear

As the heartbeat slows

To embrace the ache

That now resides

Where Love once pounded

 

Warmth of summer

Has taken its final bow

As autumn leaves

Spring forth in a colorful

Display

 

Scattering leaves upon

The cool breezing

Singing its changing melody

With a cool note

That bleeds in hues of orange and red

Dripping its seasonal

Change upon the land

 

Summer’s romance has ended

Yet once again

As nature shifts

Into it new skin

You paint a beautiful picture here of Autumn and the feelings of changing seasons..... with a sadness we bid adeiu to summer's warmth yet embrace the beauty of the autumn season...... actually autumn is my favorite time of year. I enjoy the beautiful outlook, I love fall, not only because my birthday is within the beauty of fall, because of the smell! have you ever just sat outside in the brisk air while the sun shines down and the sky is a wispy soft blue? that smell... it reminds me of childhood, maybe its the smell of the vegitation shifting from the summer growth to the docile nature of fall and winter... but anyways! I really enjoyed your poem, it delays the beauty of this fantastic season that we are wondering into so quickly!
