Stubborn Wall

Stubborn Wall

A Poem by Poetic Beauty
"

written for creative poetry group using a quote that is post in the authors notes below

"
The wall is harsh
Unmoving
Unforgiving
As each thump echoes
Across the room
Tiny droplets of blood
Trickle
Drip
Down the forehead
with scarlet direction
Refusing to budge
Thump
Thump
is the only sound
Heard from this being
Concrete is stubborn
Strong
Still
With no emotions
to get in its way
No amount of force
Will move
Will crumble
the structure that stands
With crafted pride
Stubbornness holds tight
Gripping
Squeezing
Until flesh is damaged
With gritty pieces embedded
Is being right worth the headache
Pounding
Aching
Inside the head
Forcefully growing
Let go and move freely
Loving
Understanding
The difference in opinion
Destroying self implosion

Author's Note

Poetic Beauty
"...there is a difference between being convinced and being stubborn. I'm not certain what the difference is, but I do know that if you butt your head against a stone wall long enough, at some point you realize the wall is stone and that your head is flesh and blood." Maya Angelou

thought provoking and very insightful; a great piece to be inspired to write and share for others to reflect on - thank you for sharing. Walls can be our pride, the very thing that enables us to gain self respect but the same walls can fall on us when our confidence becomes arrogance.

Good poem. I got a feeling of confinement from reading this poem and the need to get past the wall some kind of way. Like the wall was the force holding something back and what ever it was it was something that was needed. Good job

Everything you express has it's truths and like all things there needs to be a balance for there is time to be free and a time to have walls, a time to be flexible and a time to be stubborn. When it comes to my goals I am stubborn a wall that rarely backs down but in other areas I am total free and lack the structure a wall provides, the focus and determination to just get it done. I feel your poem speaks more from the having balance and not being so stubborn or stuck behind a wall of protection. Great insight and thoughtful write.

There is wisdom in these words .. and they are beautifully expressed.

Point well made... sometimes we can win the argument and lose the person... but we are often slow to learn.. Here you teach us well...:-)

Very gritty and insightful. Excellent description of being stubborn and how useless it is go keep hitting one's head against a brick wall but the really stubborn one's won't give up. Maybe they hope to move or put a nice hole in the wall. Excellent write!

Wonderful. Fits perfectly wht your chosen quote. Sometimes, its really diffiuclt to make the difference between persistence and stubborn-ness. We should try to realize that a drill or a bomb would be more useful to break through a wall than our fragile heads. :)
Well written.
