Dragon's Breath

Dragon's Breath

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

A fiery breath caresses the neck

As sultry words enflame the ears

Comfort erases the tingling fears

Wrapping in the heat of desire

Encasing the body in fire

Lava flowing through engorged veins

Steam rising into the cool air

As passion envelopes your lair

Sweat beading on succulent skin

As sultry mirror visions begin

Sulfuric dragon’s breath of fire and ice

Slices the heart not once but twice

Without warning breath become like ice

Crystallizing volcanic flames

Icicles to the heart with perfect aim

Pulsing blood frozen with pain

Tears etched on cheeks like rain

Body shivers without desire’s light

Frozen vapor glitters in the room

Rose becomes an arctic bloom

As love dies in the frigid cold

Without ecstasy’s fevered hold

Sulfuric dragon’s breath of fire and ice

Slices the heart not once but twice

Spectacular, the word choices are amazing in this. This piece should be used as an example of expanding ones vocab and imagery to younger poets. The metaphor behind the dragon is powerful and sensual, the repetition of "not once but twice" is perfectly added and not over done. The only thing I would suggest is finding another word for ice in stanza 3 to 4, it is used to often too close together for me. regardless, this piece astounded me.

Oh-ho-ho! It eez, az zey say, magnifique! I am stunned by the beauty of this work. So clever, and so stirring; emotionally rich while stimulating creative interest. This is marvelous. I loved the strange rhyme scheme, the subtle eroticism blended seamlessly with mythical descriptions of the mightiest beast, the cold compared to the other side of love, the chilling couplet so appropriately repeated... Wow. I truly loved this. Thanks for the RR. Great write.

This is a great poem; the cold and hot of what makes a dragon. It could be likened to a relationship as once its hot, then growing cold and melting away. The pain so great it slices the heart as it goes back and forth, thus ending the relationship.

Talk about some serious contrast. Great vapid description of the heat of passion and desire and the brittleness of the let down. Immediately identifiable to all who have loved and lost. Great piece.

Love can feel this way the hot and the cold that cuts it into two. You took this one and ran freely with it. Your playful ways with words and using them to describe the scene was perfectly executed. This is how people feel when we fall in and out of love sooner or later our hearts never heel.

that's gotta be double tough.

Extra crispy or cryogenic Capulet...

I like the play on both elements and capturing the intense feelings that come along with love and lust, very visual write.
