Slumbers No More

This pulsing heart slumbers no more.

The vacant tomb is now closed.

Once again fully exposed

 

Light casting a special glow

Revived a cold sluggish heart

Emotion now playing their part

 

Shadows have been cast aside

Charred by an intense fire

Called free flowing desire

 

Imprisonment is now gone

The  black chains of despair broken

Feelings of wonder now spoken

 

The cage has been destroyed

Excitement peacefully flows free

Completely encompassing me

I think this poem has many meanings and reasons behind the words. This one came from the heart for sure. I don't see this as dark instead I see it as the opposite of that. It is like light is finally shinning down upon you and you are beginning to live again with joy and passion. The poem is very symbolic almost a cleansing. I think it is a great write for the feel of it and for the meaning behind it. Excellent.

Very stark and gloomy at the beginning then just like someone waking up after a long dark depression there is hope and life. That's what your poem made me think of. I really like this, I think you did a wonderful job on this one.

Ah, freedom. That's what this poem says. I feel lighter, more peaceful just from reading it. I love how passionate this piece is. Starting out smothered like Waffle House hash browns (lol) and then a release of those tensions. Very nice!
