Dreary Day

Dreary Day

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

Bone chilling rain pelting down
From the dreary gray clouds above
Dampening the whole little town

Insipidness filling the soul
Soaking deep inside the skin
Creating an empty black hole

Gloomy clouds surround the mind
Causing thick foggy thought to form
Making sadness and tears combine

Ice drops flowing deep inside
Reaching to the pulsing heart
Leaving the brain unable to hide

Emotions swirling deep within
Waiting patiently to strike
Creeping up quietly again

Author's Note

Poetic Beauty
It seems nature can affect our thoughts, or a least mine. On Saturday we had 36 degree ferh. temps with cold rain and this is how this poem came about.

I love the rain but it does bring back good/bad, fond/wretched old memories and a sense of uncontrollable joy/ sheer helplessness or hopelessness at the same time. This one's on that and does a great job finding all those train stations within the mind when the train is the "bone chilling rain". great write..And on a topic i love..

I also have a hard time with rain, I both love it,
For its profound ability to stabilize and lubricate life,
And hate it because it makes outside work miserable.

I don't mind snow, as I can shake it off my clothes.

"Ice drops flowing deep inside
Reaching to the pulsing heart
Leaving the brain unable to hide"

This is very good poetry..
I liked all the stanzas, but this one jumped off the page
and hit me in the brain....:-)

enjoyed

I sometimes like those days, if there is someone to share them with who is warm heart and blooded :) This poem is a little like today but without the rain. I imagine it is even colder up north and I don't miss those snow days at all! Many get depressed in the winter especially if the sun isn't out and present. Another nice write by you.

funny how nature brings out the best and worst of our emotions, causing us both happiness and sadness. I have been feeling like this lately even though its not like where you are at. Great write, Kristina!

Your right, when the weather is gloomy and nasty, it makes me feel yuck! As soon as the sun apearrs everything is brighter including me. This is an excellent poem!

The whole of Winter does that for me, brings me down, so very far down, the poem is heavy like your heart on days such as these, it reflects your mood perfectly

I get days like these! And I don't like them. The character Teddy in the JD Salinger story of the same name said, "I don't know. Poets are always taking the weather so personally. They're always sticking their emotions in things that have no emotions." I disagree - the weather DOES have emotions! Or at least it invokes them in us.

Nature and the human spirit go hand in hand.
You have proven this with such a descriptive
poem such as this...nicely done Kristina...
