Flattery

Flattery

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

Beautiful flattery soared in the air
Causing surges in emotions to rise
In the mind, words untangle and flair
Trying to decided if it's only flowery lies

The heart begins to quietly whine
As the words grow intense and winded
They tangle and twist like thorny vine
Causing the brain to be offended

The words are smashed and shattered
Leaving the truth exposed to the heart
Now it feels broken and battered
Seeing the ugly truth, instead of gorgeous art.

PB,
Flattery is like one of those perfect Red Delicious Apples... So good you cannot resist, but once eaten, all that's left is a chewed up rapidly browning core...

It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth!!
Just goes to show flattery will get you everywhere but perhaps you don't want to go to some of the places. Excellent piece.

ouch. they say that flattery will get you everywhere but it doesn't talk about what happens when you get where you were trying to go. the truth hurts - and its heavier.
