Dragon’s Lair

There is a fierce slumbering dragon
His obsidian scales sleek as glass
Ornate details with intricate etching
Trimmed in pure silver moonlight
That shines iridescently in the void

Beneath the molten onyx volcano
He resides in quiet solitude
Of vast darkness and nocturnal shine
As Luna penetrates a small hole
Shimmering upon his massive body

His giant tail concealing a secret
Wrapped protectively inside the circle
A tiny female human lays asleep
His armored plates radiating warmth
Surrounding her relaxed being

She’s his light amongst the starless sky
A beacon, exuding purple kinship
Comforting the stillness that impedes
As the beast awaits the sandman’s visit
Half awake and partially unconscious

A guardian of those he deems worthy
Viciously protective of what is his
Dominance emanates from his veins
Saturating the circulating air
So unexpected intruders beware

Wonderful word choice, description and alliteration. Love the story told here. I have always found dragons scary. A protective one though, has got to be a bonus. Another fine write PB. I can tell the effort that has gone into composing these stanzas.

I’m fond of fantasy, mythology and paranormal things. I haven’t written one like this for awhile so it was fun to do plus it’s based off a friend. His nickname is dragon. It fits his personality.

I take the dragon and the tiny female both to be symbolic. Perhaps the dragon's protective function is the only thing that keeps him under control. Perhaps he is also a symbol of sexuality.

He’s no longer on here but him and I keep in contact. We talk usually once or twice a week. I nicknamed him Dragon a long time ago but it’s fitting of his personality

So I have a friend that I originally connected with on here. We’ve been friend for like 16 years now. I nicknamed him Dragon but his real name is Adam. He is much like a dragon in personality. I hadn’t written a dragon poem in awhile so I told him I would. Maybe another soon. It’s all what my mind conjures

That is awesome. One day I’m going to get a Phoenix tattoo. It’s fitting for me. Only I shall have the colors purple and blue with maybe a little red.

I am drawn to all kinds of fantasy characters and paranormal characters. I’ve always thought dragons especially are amazing. How cool is breathing fire lol 😂 or ice if your an ice dragon.

Go for it, girl! Mine is on my butt cheek, so when someone asks how I'm doing, I can truthfully say, "My a*s is dragon!"
I've long wondered if in one of those parallel universes they keep going on about, magic might be real. My doppelganger would be a flawed wizard and just like here, he can make things disappear, but has no idea how to bring them back. Like when I'm writing something, lean back to think of what I want to say next, then spend a half hour looking for what I did with my pen.

I wrote this about a friend I actually made on this site way back in 2010 or maybe 2011. He’s helped me with writing my poetry and all kinds of stuff. We keep in contact off this site.
