Slumbering Beast

Slumbering Beast

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

This gentle rain soothes my soul
Comforting, cradling me, like a bowl
It quiets the feral beast
That lies buried, it sleeps

The claws have closed, retracted
It’s eyes fluttering shut, inactive
It’s roar hushed with this rain
Stilling the chaos in my brain

The misty air heavy yet light
Drifting with dampened delight
For the creature still slumbers
Lounging where it can’t encumber

The beast guards no more
There’s a slight crack in the door
As light softly filters in
Allowing emotions to begin

When did the growling beast retire
Letting passion spark this fire
Creeping in the cracked door
Bright feelings spread to the core

A darkened sky is to blame
As the peaceful rain came
A soft lulling tune it sings
A serene dragon folds its wings

You catch the rhythm of this rain eventually and wonder of spring or the opening of something grander or worse....something cursed and blessed but awakening and hearing the memory of its heartache and the drips and beat like raindrops on a dry road and tired lips. Let it be a dragon or a light ..both can carry the moment...beautiful as always. Thanks~

They say it's best to let sleeping dogs lie. I'd venture the same is true with most things. But there's always something there to stir the restless creatures. I enjoyed the read.

I like the thought of the dragon within becoming serene. Normally their wings are outstretched and they breathe fire. Gentle rain is such a soother, that will extinguish the dragon’s fiery breath. A lovely piece PB.

Makes me think of Tolkien's mighty dragon form the Lord of the Rings fable, a snarling, fire-breathing monster yet much like here, not rain but gold, jewellry and lots of it seemed to bestow calm and resrful slumber...

I love fantasy characters and like to write about them with real situations
This is rather a mystical, mysterious entertaining write where the beast I thought was in you or a part of you in this fantastical world. But hey I’m probably wrong.

That is very true as well
Rain and storms are a theme for you again. :)
Something about the aggression in a storm and the cleansing of the rain that excites and soothes in equal parts. Lovely read.

I like nature in general but there is something amazing about rain and storms especially at night
There is something so beautiful about exploring the tender parts of usually monstrous things, you have done this wonderfully :))
