Nocturnal Hour

Nocturnal Hour

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

It’s the quiet wee hours of the morning
The sky onyx speckled with stars
My moon glowing casting silver light
To brighten the darkened night

The earth in a relaxing slumber
The loud busyness muted in tone
A hush has fallen over the ground
As faint whispers become gentle sound

The dark stifles obnoxious clamor
As my brain becomes less anxious
Letting my surroundings be serene
A soft moment of routine

Void of external roaring chatter
The poet’s hours quench the soul
Releasing the swirling tension
Into a different dimension

Nocturnal hours, my favorite time
Creativity is easily found
As twinkling ivory orbs gaze down
On a lethargic docile town

Gently my mind gravitates to you
Always lingering on your eyes
A pale blue sky gleaming brightly
Capturing my attention tightly

As the darkness begins settling in
I allow myself to drift away
Picturing your intense carnal stare
In this moment that you and I share

Being awake to see the day begin is my favourite time. Its amazing where your thoughts can take you when the day slowly fades into a wonderful time when the incessant noise and blah blah sleep.
It is the calm before the new days storm and inspires us most of all when pen touches paper.

Yes I’m a lover of it being quiet as well. There is a time and place for noise.

I too am more creative in the quiet hours of morning when I can see the moon and stars or movement of clouds through the sky light. I am an insomniac. My mind too active to sleep till dawn. Inspiration comes though, from many places . I really like the description in your stanzas. Nice piece PB. Have a good weekend.

I can so relate to this piece. My mother said that from the time I was born I had my days and my nights "mixed up". So I worked second shift jobs for years getting off work at two in the morning, nothing open but the grease pit restaurants so I'd go there and eat breakfast. The drunks were always there on Friday nights and the police usually were to. But you're so on spot about the general peace and quiet. It's so much more peaceful in the country.

If you voice this poem with a soft background music it would make such a wonderful meditation. It's quite soothing.

You describe well the sense of the night and its stars in the sky, the moments of quietness in the early hours when reflection draws on our deepest consciousness... bringing forth those longings that speak of secret pleasures and shared encounters
