Gathering Storm

Storm clouds begin to gather
Dancing across the night sky
They swirl with onyx beauty
Heavy with unreleased moisture

Thunder rumbles in the distance
Whispering it’s low toned growl
Until it gains primal strength
Roaring to life with energy

Lightning bolts from cloud to cloud
Streaking through the ominous sky
Strobing flashes flicker fast
Creating beauty only nature can

Rain slowly starts to drip down
Soaking into the dry earth
Droplets pelt every surface
Glistening beneath dim streetlights

It's not that I hate it, it's what comes after the storm, specially the strong flash flood in our town.

I find storms quite exhilarating. All that pent up energy swirling around until it breaks, producing fork lightning and a downpour. The downpour is like the cleansing which makes the air that much sweeter. You have captured the movement and the buildup of noise from a distant rumble to the roar of the crescendo. Rainfall on parched earth is just what is needed. Descriptive, creative and you create the right mood with this write PB. Good work. Hope all is well.
