Desert Path

Desert Path

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

Reaching out into the stars
Glittering with ivory light
Heartstrings hold translucent scars
Shimmering across the night
A pale past glowing with fight

Palms stretched towards the sky
Asking for guidance on the path
Love in abundance flies high
Ardent waters a slow bath
Drowning the past’s haunting wrath

Moon glistens upon the sand
Sparkling like alabaster dots
A heated time strums the land
Welcoming an unique spot
Where desire is freely sought

Soul needs this quiet retreat
Where the refreshing breeze blows
Cooling the daytime desert heat
As love’s favor begins to glow
Listen, for the heart does know

PB, this is quite beautiful, yet a lingering safeguard to protect the heart. I envision the night sky, ad walking on the sandy beach, alone, on a warm summer's eve. There is something about this I can't quite put my finger on, a longing, a wanting....something waiting. Lovely.

Your welcome!
The desert is a magical place where you can count so many falling stars that you give up.
Those nights are heaven on earth. That night sky has the power to heal. You've captured
it and served it to us.

I do love the desert and miss it dearly. This is that longing I feel everyday. Flagstaff used to be my favorite place where there was the desert heat blowing from one direction and just when it seemed too hot a cool breeze would come from the three peaks in the other direction. I love this piece!!!

The best part of your poem is how you use imagery in fresh inventive ways, yet also familiar & relatable. I love how your title could refer to the physical places called "deserts" on earth . . . or it could also refer to the desert (dry, barren, hot) that some may have residing in their souls or in their lives or in their perceptions. Your poem speaks to me of how we become desert-like in the way we live our lives & then its time to go refresh our coffers with all the ways nature can make us come alive again (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I get the feeling you get out of Indiana from time to time. This sure feels like first-hand knowledge and not just wordcraft. Regardless, I love it! Keep it coming!
