Not only a remarkable tribute to a good friend but a testament to the power of music, poetry with a good voice and strings, I'd say. Janis was a remarkable artist, and it's a tribute to her and others that you'd mention her in such a moving poem about a dear friend. The dead and poetry move us like no other force. This is proof.

Thank you. I have always loved Janis Joplin’s music and Laury and I would talk about it all the time because for a brief period she lived down the street from him in his younger years. It was always our thing. I’m glad you enjoy this poem. Laury was actually a poet on this site. He was a great mentor.

Thank you for your kind words. It’s been a few years since his passing. The last couple days I had been thinking of him and missed the brilliant chats we would have. I always picture him hanging out with Janis Joplin and the other great in music and poetry.
