Your sanctuary
Where the walls
Stand strong
And true

Where a loving heart
Waits patiently
To envelop
With ardent notes

Allow her smile
To light up the night
Vanish darkness
Shattering doubt

Where shadows fade
Under an amber glow
Relaxing the days chaos
A beacon of hope

Allow her arms
To encompass you

This is one of the most beautiful descriptions of "how to love" that I've ever read. So many times love poems highlight the superficial aspects of love, which bores me to tears. I love how you managed to list the most important ways people can "be there" for each other, but not having it sound like a laundry list or relationship recipe. Even though this sanctuary usually involves a partnership between people, I was reading it from the point of view from Proverbs where it mentions Wisdom as being such a sanctuary. One's own thoughts can also be a partner. So many directions this can go. But still - nothing beats a fellow person of flesh and blood that you can greet with a physical hug and kiss as your refuge from the storms of life, together. I have such a sanctuary shared for just past 24 years. Nothing beats it!

Letting go and allowing another to be a comforter isn’t always easy. But your poem makes that give and take between two trusting people seem quite appealing.

There is a sense of warmth and peace. A place where all outside things melt away and all that’s left are the two people learning how to love and comfort each other.

It’s a lovely place to imagine being. And lovely to imagine being such a comfort for someone else. I really enjoyed this.
