Emotional Diet

Emotional Diet

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

Closing out emotions
The deeper ones
That dwell within

Blocking out the past
Adding a brick
To the crumbling wall

Leaving the love
Hidden beneath
A swirling lake

Trapping the pain
Silently behind
A cage of iron

Letting go for now
Of lost feelings
Cloaking them with a veil

Enjoying the moments
As they are made
Reveling in the present

Smiling for today
For I am
On emotional diet

The tears that water the soul are never wasted. I am a feeling person ("if there is one thing I am good at, it is feeling").

I love this poem. I 'feel' it deeply. I sense both frailty and willpower in it and a courageous strength. I like the way it is written and was attracted by the title which intrigued me. Interesting connection between the two words (emotion and diet) since so many people have eating disorders due to unresolved emotional pain.

Thank you for this poem 🙂

This is my theme song! I shut down satellite TV 2 years ago, intending to minimize political noise in the run-up to the election & beyond. I'm so sick of people being addicted to every nasty little thing that anyone in the public eye says or does. Yes, I think hate-mongering & corruption stink, but I don't have to immerse myself in every nasty puddle of it. Lots of people need to go on an emotional diet! This is truly brilliant writing, the way you show instead of tell with dynamic imagery that pops (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I get worn out from the overload of emotions sometimes. Especially right now

They do weigh us down and are basically made up of negative nutritional content, that clog the mind with their harmful and explicit content.
But as with all that isn't good for us, we only find out their addictiveness after we are hooked on their manufacturers evil intent.
It's pretty much the same reason we don't have three deep fried mars bars for breakfast. Well, not every day at least. 😀
I would love to see if weightwatchers or slimming world instructors can coach you through this one 😀

I’ve been on this diet before but quite honestly found it very difficult to stick to lol - maybe some spicier recipes are in order :)

Indeed you did 👍
That's a good diet. At least until we can just let go. Enjoying the everyday moments can actually help us let go once and for all. It just takes time. You got me thinking and that's what a poem is meant to do. Thanks for sharing this one. Cheers!

This one was written to vent thoughts and emotions
sometimes the pain gets to be too much...and we starve ourselves of love...
stark images here.
