October Lights

October lights have faded
The colors dwindled
The season's beauty
Has blossomed and died
Drifting away

Fire lights have diminished
Upon the cold breeze
Embers have become cold
Ashes born to a season
That has come to pass

Winter's fingers claw
Slashing upon the wind
Bitter and biting
The earth
In its icy clutches

Transforming the land
Into a fridigid desert
Icicles growing
As blizzards encase
The world in white

Yep I live in Illinois where the winters can be either mild or harsh. I hate the days getting shorter and the nights getting cooler.

ah yes, the Polar Vortex, and everything comes too soon.

like a sudden drift of snow in our lives that ends our autumn all too soon...
we leave this earth, encased in regret, because there was no time as fallen leaves to settle.

and those are cold, biting memories to deal with.
