Three Words

Each night as I

Lay my head softly

Next to yours

I listen to the rise

And fall of your breath

Comforted in the feel

Of the heat your

Body generates

 

Your arm draped

Gently across

My midsection

Embracing me

Without knowledge

Giving me solace      

In the simple

Reaction to my

Presence

 

As you slumber

When I know that

You are sound asleep

I whisper softly

Three words             

That are felt

Deep within my being

 

Words that speak

And surge through

My content soul

The chords are strumming

Through my veins

Each night as you sleep

I think of you with love

Softly saying those words

With your name.
