Grandma, I salute you

Grandma, I salute you

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

Good morning Grandma

I salute you

For all the courage

You had

Though no badge

Of honor

Was placed on

Your breast

You fought many battles

Giving in life

Only your best

Some mountains were steep

Treacherous to climb

Still you grabbed

Your gear

Struggling at times

Your faith never faltered

God always at your side

Though the rocks

Were jagged

You continued

To move

Through sharp points

And cavernous grooves

A soul filled with valor

But not the military kind

One of striking

Down cancer

And burying

A grandchild

Who left you

Behind

So I salute you

Grandma of mine

For there were

More mountains

Than hills to climb

Poetic Beauty
I don't have a picture on my computer of my grandma so I am leaving the picture blank. My grandma has been gone for almost 13 years and I still miss her smile and cooking with her.

Your grandma is looking down upon you darling and smiling with all her pride for you! This was a beautiful piece to remember her by, and reminded me of my own Mamaw. I lost her this past December just two days before my 20th birthday. I will always miss her. Keep writing wonderful poems!

So touching, and beautifully written. Grandma's are that special, and once mine died, I wrote her too, the poem is lost however, but I still have it in mind...

Maybe I should re write it some day, you've inspired me, this was utterly beautiful, and deeply moving. Thank you so much.

Yeah, its hard...
Such a wonderful tribute to your Grandma, and it speaks to me of an immesurable strength of character and complete determination. The way she is painted in this piece she seems like the kind of person I would have love to meet. I miss cooking with my Grandma too, and wish I had paid more attention while she were here with me.

A lovely tribute to the memory of someone who affected you deeply. Grandparents can have a very special place in a person's life... and here you celebrate that blessing. We too applaud her strength of character through life's trials and her sustaining faith...
