The momentum of spicy conjurings is splashed w/cold water in the face. The words dance in this poem, yet one does wonder why there have to be false ideas fused to an affective mode, why desire must be concocted of fable (& are we sure our lives are not always already concocted of fable?). I don't usually lean toward a contrarian review mode, but this theme is so central to life, it summons investigation. "Desire" is one of my favorite uncanny anagram words, unpacking to "reside," "i.d. seer," "id seer" -- it's as if desire is a self-sustaining flame, & the object thereof is secondary.

I think we often feel obliged to pit desire's arc against practical stability, & while this is a relatively true consideration at times, it's also true that humans chronically stop short of their full romantic-erotic-spiritual heart's development -- which strikes me as ironically impractical if life's purpose is self-actualization unto transcendence. Blake avers "infinity in a grain of sand" so wild desire does not have to be separate from responsibilities.

Just such an interesting theme, I had to muse about it. . .;-) Your language is lovely, & that is the essence of poetic beauty.

Thank you for this review. It has fiven me things to think about. This fabled desire is for.someone who lives no where near me and this was a way for me to get out my wantimg to meet this person. Not for romantic reasons.but a different desire. A magnetic pull towards.this persons spirit

Intriguing. Isn't a magnetic pull the essence of romance? ;-) Teasing. I surmise you are in a relationship & so another pull is too much to integrate in real life, but you wanted to address it somehow. To tell you the truth, I'm not so sure FREEDOM isn't our real responsibility -- "dangerous" as that can be. Your poem seems to draw out my tendency to turn everything upside down. :-) It's not that I'm merely perverse -- it's just that "crazy wisdom" is of that nature.
