Take Me BackA Poem by Callista HowardReality out weighs fantasy’s
Take me back to the good all days
Take me back when we knew no difference When our innocence was purely blinded by fun Take me back to when we laid under the sky gazing at the sun Holding each other’s hand piercing into each other’s eyes Blushing and hoping to steal one another first kiss Take me back to the day when you whispered’ I love you’ on top of London Bridge Take me back to the London Eye high up in the sky where you first ironically proposed Where every word was sealed with a kiss and embedded into my soul Take me back to my fantasy world where I feel completely, loved and whole Don’t let me go back to the reality world Where our hearts are broken and our lives are shattered by the cruelty of this world I would never understand why the colour of one’s skin matter’s Why does cultures see colours Why are children taught hate Why does status matter Take me back to the good all day’s Where our innocence and heart could of never been broken Shattered or dismantled because of the colour or race of one skin Take me back to our youth to the days of innocence and childhood Children in love innocent of colour oblivious to the cruelty of this world Take me back to the time when our colour and culture never mattered. © 2023 Callista HowardReviews
